Pistachio Butter

This coffee instantly gets you going with notes of pistachio, cocoa and sweet spices that make it the perfect fall choice! Look forward to full body, high sweetness and a nice, light acidity. On the filter, this is a creamy, full-bodied coffee with a distinct nutty aroma and the juiciness of jostberry or red apple. On espresso, notes of marzipan, nut butter and spices stand out, along with a medium acidity of yellow fruit.

Traditionally, we open the winter coffee season with coffee from Guatemala! This time it comes from the El Recreo farm, located near the village of Santa Rosa de Lima in southern Guatemala. The farm is currently managed by Nils Leporowski, who represents the third generation of farmers. Nils' grandfather, Elias Fernandez Gutierrez, purchased the farm in 1920s with the ambition to grow the best coffee possible. One hundred years later, his family still holds the same values, which, in addition to the high quality of their coffee, also lie in their emphasis on sustainability.

The coffee we have selected from this farm is processed using the traditional washed method and is a blend of Caturra and Catuai varieties. The cherries are stripped of their skins after picking and then transferred to barrels where they are fermented without anaerobically to loosen the pulp from the beans while stabilizing the flavor profile. The grain is then washed with clean water and moved to a patio where it is dried for 5-7 days. The flavour of the varieties themselves and the local terroir come through most of all.

We loved this coffee immediately and we hope that you'll find this pistachio goodness useful on those cold days!
