San Francisco is kind of a vast farm with area of 13 hectares. However they don’t focus only on coffee. They also grow citruses, avocados and raise cows for milk. That is common phenomenon at least in surroundings of Leon Cortez city in Tarrazu where we had visited few more farms. All the coffee from this farm is being processed in coop ASOPROAAA which shields over 1000 families. It has been founded in 1998 after huricane Mitch. The coop provides financial, commercial and technical assistence to its members with aim to imrpove their livehoods.
ASOPROAA is also amond respected micromills especialy for being one of the first places permiting farmers to process microlots differently than washed method and primarily under their name. In particular honey microlots score high cupping scores and they even come in finalists in Cup of Excelence competition. However we had been looking for some typical washed Costa Rican and this had everything we expected and wanted.
