If you remember 2 years back we had this estate’s coffee in the offer. Honey processed Catuaí to be more specific. However this year we took advantage of meeting PV in Budapest and together with Hartmann family (we have a different cascara from them in the offer) we reloaded the cargo from trunk to trunk on a parking lot. It’s a great feeling if you are able to receive the product directly from farmers hands. Eventhough it’s on a dirty parking lot. After all we still have to stand for what we represent.
The cascara is a side product of processing coffee beans. It is crushed dried coffee cherry which offers fresh fruity taste and quantity of caffeine and antioxidants. This specific cascara is from Geisha varietal probably the most appreciated variety for its complex taste. Cherries were natural processed, sun dried for 10 to 14 days and put aside for 3 months resting period. The dry processing (so called “hulling”) is done before being packed and shipped.
The infusion is done simillary like a tea with the same rules as with coffee. For 1 litre of beverage we use 50 grams, pour it with hot water (approx. 93℃) and steep for even 10 minutes. After this period of time we decant and serve. Nevertheless don’t hesitate experimenting and adjust the preparation to your taste!
